DOBCROFT INFANT SCHOOL

Planning wc 08.03.21

Class: Mice Year: 2020 - 2021

Dear Foundation,

We are so excited to welcome you back to school this week.

Please find attached our planning for this week. You might find this useful if your child is self-isolating at home.

PSHE

This week we will be focusing on social interactions and team work.

We will be playing games and taking part in wellbeing sessions.

Children will be asked to talk about their feelings and emotions on their first week back at school following lockdown. We will learn strategies to manage and regulate our emotions during our mindfulness sessions.

Literacy

The children will be writing their own Mothers Day card. They will think about what is special about their mums.

You can download the writing frame template below.

Maths

The children will be learning to take away by crossing out gingerbread men and counting the remaining ones. They will record their answer as a number sentence.

The children will also count back on a numberline to subtract numbers. They will use mathematical vocabulary to explain their reasoning, eg. Jump backwards, take away, less, fewer…

Please see the attached sheets.

In our continuous provision the children will also be practising taking away by folding back bears and counting the ones remaining on the wall. They will record their answer as a number sentence.

Phonics

The children will all have a one to one reading session with their teacher. The teachers will be assessing the children’s phonics levels this week. Look out for any changes in the children’s reading diaries.

In phonics the children will be recapping set 2 sounds.

They will practise applying their knowledge by writing a sentence.

Expressive arts

This week we are designing and making our Mothers Day card. Children will be mixing powder paint to create their own shade of red and pink. We will be using celery to print flower shapes on our card.

As part of our Helicopter Stories session, children will be generating their own story and dictate them to an adult scribe. Later on that day, we will act out the stories that the children have generated.
