DOBCROFT INFANT SCHOOL

Ask Me About wk beginning 9.11.20

Class: Hedgehogs Year: 2020 - 2021

Hi all,

As I know it can be a challenge to see our 'Ask Me About Board' to see what we are getting up to in class I thought I would start posting on here what we have been getting up tp.

We have had a very busy week this week.

We have been practising our skipping skills all week ready for our skipathon personal challenge today - we really loved the challenge and tried to skip our age.  Some of us even challenged ourselves to skip backwards!

In maths we have been learning how to subtract using a number line and challenge ourselves to find missing numbers e.g. 8 - ___ = 2 .  We had to think carefully about our parts and our whole to help us, and we counted back from our whole to our answer to work it out.

In English we read the story of The Deep Dark Wood by Algy Craig Hall and Ali Pye.  We went into Forest School and thought all about what we could hear, see, smell and touch around us.  We then used these ideas to write descriptive sentences about the woods.  We challenged ourselves to try and use adjectives to describe and add detail.  We also practised forming our curly caterpillar letters.

In our wider curriculum work this week we have thought about what makes somebody our friend and how they are different to our family / members of our community and strangers.

In Georgraphy we took a trip to England and learned about the country and its capital city.  In RE we learned about Diwali and the story of Rama and Sita, and thought about the different things Hindu's do to celebrate Diwali.

We have also made poppies and thought about Rememberance Day, and dressed in spots to celebrate children in need.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend

Miss Sutherland
