DOBCROFT INFANT SCHOOL

Sustainability/ECO

Eco Education

Our future is dependent upon how we care for ourselves, each other and our environment here and now.  Education for sustainable development is an important part of our Dobcroft ethos and we want to ensure that it is embedded in our management and our teaching, learning and curriculum.  We are fully committed to promoting the Rights and Respecting values of all members of our community and we enable learners to understand the importance of caring for Planet Earth.

We have been a Green Flag school for over 10 years and are proud of the importance we place upon our sustainable curriculum.

We work closely with Sheffield City Council and outside agencies to provide an exciting curriculum and we use our beautiful school grounds to explore bio diversity and habitats through forest school lessons and other curriculum subjects.

We encourage the use of healthier, less polluting and less dangerous modes of travel and are currently working towards a Modeshift Award to raise awareness of sustainable transport.

We promote healthy eating and drinking and wherever possible we use ethically sourced food and drink that supports local producers and suppliers.

We work in partnership with our parents and carers at Dobcroft and have an active Eco Team which works hard to support school with the teaching and learning of climate change issues, so very important for 21st century citizens.

Dobcroft Infant School encourages all pupils, parents and visitors to our school to cycloe or use public transport where possible. Useful links to the Sheffield Journey Planner  and also a cycle map can be found below:
