DOBCROFT INFANT SCHOOL

Remote Learning

Throughout the National Pandemic, we have strived to fully engage with our Parents and Carers to support them and our pupils in home learning.  This process began at the outset when some of our most vulnerable pupils were shielding, packs of work and physical resources were sent home.  As the home learning expectation and our package developed and responded to the needs of our pupils and parents, we completed live registers with pupils at home, mindfulness activities,’ Live’ PE sessions and provided filmed lessons and Loom flipcharts in the regular format all with familiar teachers and teaching staff.  This, and opportunities weekly to read 1:1 with class teachers, was to ensure that all children felt connected to the school and this supported positive mental well-being.

During each lockdown, we asked for feedback from parents, carers and staff.  Examples of comments from parents were varied due to their own circumstances but the majority were extremely positive.

“I wish to put on record how impressed I have been, not only during this week, but for the entirety of the period during which education has been affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Leadership and all staff at Dobcroft Infant School have provided emergency childcare, support for families - including ongoing support and advice around mental health and a spirit of positivity and resilience in addition to high quality learning provision, both in school for children of keyworkers and vulnerable pupils and online/ remote learning for those at home.” (Y2 parent)

There has been no break in terms of providing both academic support and pastoral care since the original closing of schools in March 2020. The staff have worked tirelessly to ensure that all children have equal access and opportunities for learning and development. Parents have been kept continually updated with regard to the safety measures put in place to ensure the health and safety of our children and the school community as a whole.
