Andy Gates – Chair of Governors

Parent Governor (Oct 2017)

In my current role as a Regional Head within the ESFA, I lead a large multidisciplinary team to ensure new schools (Free Schools) are delivered to time and to budget. My geographical area of responsibility stretches from Northern England, down to Hertfordshire. Prior to that, I have held a number of positions within the Department for Education, which have included developing Academy policy and ICT in schools. My skills/experience include significant leadership experience, programme management, financial management, problem solving, strong communication skills and line management.

I have been the Head at Dobcroft Infant School Since September 2004 having previously been the Head at Broomhill for 4 years. I have been a Governor since 1993 first as a teacher representative and then in a Headteacher role in particular looking at the value of Early Years.

As a Governor, I want to drive through strategies for school’s priorities.

Vicky Harrison

Deputy Headteacher

Staff Governor

I have been the Senco and Deputy Head at Dobcroft Infant School for the past 2 years. However, I began my Teaching career at Dobcroft as an NQT. I was the Owls’ teacher for 4 years before leaving to become an Assistant Head at a school in Rotherham. I came back to Dobcroft because the school has a welcoming warmth to it that you just can’t replicate. I feel that the staff and children are amazing and I enjoy being part of their journeys.

I attend all governor meetings and support the Headteacher and the Chair of Governors to the best of my ability.

Vicky Abdy

I joined Dobcroft Infants in April 2015 as the School Business Manager. Previously a school parent, I worked for fifteen years in South Yorkshire Police as part of the Business Change Department.  As such, I have experience in leading change management, project management and continuous improvement.

Within school I am a member of the Senior Leadership Team and am responsible for all aspects of the general day to day running of the school building, resources, financial management, HR and health and safety.

I love working with the children in such a wonderful school and I provide a non-teaching staff view at governing body and committee meetings.

Observer from DJS

I came to Dobcroft Infant School as a child and now my 3 children have all attended too. This means that I am invested in Dobcroft for the long term. This is why I became a governor so that I could give something back to the school. I studied History at University and have since worked in finance in the public & private sector.
